Job Description

Eastern Washington University is seeking Chefs for multiple restaurants on the Cheney campus. The chef positions are classified as Snack Bar Lead's and work in Dining Services kitchens under the general direction of a supervisor or a production chef. They often work unsupervised and participate in the production of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, catering events, concessions, and other events. EWU kitchens are fast paced and full of energy. Experience is appreciated and rewarded, but we will train the right person. Salary is $17.99 - $21.20 hourly.

Conditions Of Employment: This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment. All new employees must comply with EWU immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR and proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs. Upon hire employees must comply with franchise requirements regarding clothing and appearance, if applicable. This position is covered by the Washington Federation of State Employees’ Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Salary Information: $33,492 – $43,272

Skills Required extracted by

  • Valid Washington Driver’s license.
  • Valid Washington Food Handler’s Permit.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in restaurant food service work, including one year of lead experience, or equivalent education/experience.

  • Culinary Arts degree or related degree in the food service field (preferred).
  • Ability to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Time management skills.
