Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel. In this role, you will be in charge and accountable for everything that happens in our kitchens, ensuring that your team’s food looks, smells, and tastes great.

You will be responsible for:

  • Menu development and food production coordination.
  • Implementing quality and cost control measures.
  • Enforcing food safety work practices.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and training staff.
  • Conducting meetings and teaching various cooking methods.
  • Inspecting kitchens daily to ensure high standards.
  • Guest interaction and soliciting feedback on quality and service.
  • Handling emergency situations accurately and timely.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and disciplining team members.
  • Managing paperwork, inventories, and purchasing.

To be successful in this role, you must have a background that includes a minimum of 2 years of Sous Chef experience in a relevant environment and possess essential certifications. You will be expected to work any day or shift, especially weekends and holidays.

Skills Required extracted by

  • 2+ years of Sous Chef experience in a full-service hotel/cruise ship/fine-dining restaurant/high-end catering operation.
  • Exposure to restaurant and banquets kitchens.
  • ServSafe Certification and/or CFPM Certification.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, restaurant management software, menu profit software, Micros).
  • Multi-lingual skills are a plus.
  • Culinary Degree is a plus.
  • WA state Food Worker Card or ability to obtain one within 14 days from the date of hire.
  • WA state Mandatory Alcohol Service Training (MAST) permit or ability to obtain one within 60 days from the date of hire.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain one within 14 days from the date of hire.
