Position Summary: Prepares and serves food for patients, employees, and the public. Ensures high standards of food quality, portion control, and sanitation are maintained. Works cooperatively to complete tasks efficiently and on time.

• Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Cleans and sanitizes all food production areas.
• Sets up and maintains service stations.
• Restocks, cleans, and organizes supplies as needed.
• Prepares ingredients efficiently, following recipes and checking inventory.
• Follows menu cycles, standardized recipes, and proper portioning, managing leftovers using FIFO principles.
• Properly stores, labels, and dates leftovers and products, adhering to health department guidelines.
• Provides excellent customer service, addressing complaints professionally and seeking assistance when needed.
• Monitors temperatures, ensures equipment functionality, and reports malfunctions to management.
• Ensures plates are properly garnished, diet restrictions are met, and food presentation is appealing.
• Communicates with servers regarding portion sizes, pan locations, and ingredients, and proactively replenishes items as needed to prevent shortages.
• Adheres to all sanitation, safety, and quality control guidelines.
• May perform additional duties of a Dietetic Assistant or work lead, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• For West Virginia locations (excluding Berkeley/Morgan County): Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from the local health department prior to starting or obtain a Temporary FSWP no later than the first workday and a permanent FSWP within 1 week of start date or next available class.
• For Ohio locations: Obtain a Person In Charge certification within 90 days of hire.
• For Maryland locations: Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from the local health department, surrounding counties, ServSafe, or StateFoodSafety prior to starting or obtain a Temporary FSWP no later than the first workday and a permanent FSWP within 1 week of start date or next available class.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year experience as a cook.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to handle (lift and transport) cases of product (multiple 20-pound cases of meat, frozen vegetables, and #10 cans).
• Unimpaired visual acuity.
• Normal hearing.
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.

Working Environment:

• Exposure to heat, humidity, and cold.
• Potential for burns from ovens, fryers, and hot food pans.
• Potential for cuts from knives.
