Duties & Responsibilities
- Proficient in various cooking methods, including baking, grilling, sautéing, steaming, and utilizing proper knife skills.
- Strong understanding of ingredients, including herbs, spices, specialty items, flavors, uses, and proper storage techniques.
- Ability to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment by following established handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow, adapt, and create recipes, plan menus, and portion food accurately to ensure consistency and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, ensuring that food is prepared and served in a timely manner.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working area.
- Willingness to take on additional duties or projects as assigned by SBR leadership.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook.
Qualifications & Training
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Required: Culinary education or accredited training with foundational cooking skills.
- Preferred: Experience in a kitchen environment and familiarity with kitchen operations/equipment.
- Preferred: Specialized knowledge or credentials in baking, pastry, or a specific cuisine.
- Ability to obtain a West Virginia Food Handlers certification (training provided).
- Proficient in using Microsoft Teams for work-related communication and coordination.
- Be or become a registered member of Scouting America.
Performance Results
- Producing high-quality meals that consistently enhance guest satisfaction.
- Accurately following recipes and preparation methods with exceptional accuracy (no more than 1 error per week).
- Demonstrating efficient time management and strong teamwork skills, resulting in smooth kitchen operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass the physical exam and meet SBR height and weight requirements.
Salary: $2000 - $2100 per month
