Job Summary
A Cook is responsible for preparing all food items, based on standardized recipes, for the Cafe, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria, and Banquets, while maintaining the highest standards to produce an appealing and appetizing product. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen and work areas while minimizing waste and maximizing cost/production ratio.
Responsibilities
- Preparing all food items according to standardized recipes.
- Ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in kitchen and work areas.
- Minimizing waste and maximizing cost/production ratio.
- Approaching guests and associates with a friendly and service-oriented manner.
- Maintaining regular attendance in compliance with Avantic Lodging Enterprises standards.
- Maintaining high standards of personal appearance, wearing proper uniform and name tag (per brand standards).
- Complying with Avantic Lodging Enterprises standards and regulations.
- Complying with food handlers, safety, and other certifications as required.
- Maintaining a friendly and warm demeanor.
- Having thorough knowledge of menus and preparation methods.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of storage areas.
- Completing necessary food and station preparations prior to Cafe opening for efficient service.
- Preparing and displaying buffet food items according to Avantic Lodging Enterprises standards.
- Maintaining a kitchen line post during Cafe and Room Service operating hours to prepare food efficiently, maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.
- Preparing food for Banquets following specifications.
- Preparing and serving food for the Associate Cafeteria.
- Preparing all foods following Avantic Lodging Enterprises standard recipes, with preparation of specials under the direction of the Food Production Manager or Assistant Food Production Manager.
- Breaking down buffets and the kitchen line, storing food and equipment properly at the end of each meal period.
- Working banquet food stations as scheduled.
- Knowing the location and operation of fire extinguishing equipment.
- Practicing safe work habits.
- Being familiar with hotel policies and emergency procedures.
- Using Production Charts as specified by Avantic Lodging Enterprises standards.
- Being attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and other associates.
- Operating and maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen equipment.
- Maintaining the "Clean As You Go" policy.
- Assisting in storage and rotation of food items according to hotel procedures.
- Signing keys out and back in under supervision.
- Attending meetings as required.
- Performing any other duties as requested by management.
